Charlene O. (Watson) Smith Fleming passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2017, at the Selma Markowitz Hospice Center in Newark, at age 68 years. She was born in Newark on October 17, 1948, to the late Allen and Helen (Pinson) Watson. Charlene was a 1966 graduate of Newark High School, worked at St. Regis Paper Company, and retired from the Newark Air Force Base and Boeing. She enjoyed making crafts and met many good friends as a vendor at the craft shows. Planning parties and cookouts for family and friends was her passion, as well as being an avid OSU and NFL football fan.

Surviving are her husband, George "Pat" Fleming, wonderful son, Mark L. Smith, and granddaughter Jade Marie Smith, grandma's special little girl. Also, two nephews, Chris (Jamis) and Frank Moore, and their children, a half-sister Elaine Reid and her family, sisters- and brothers- in-law, Louvenia McCauley and, and Nancy and Roger Laymon. Surviving also are ten step-children: Karen, Donna, Tammy, Jonathan, Marcy, Patrick, Tammy, Brooke, Kelly and JP; 18 step-grandchildren and 18 step-great grandchildren. Also special thanks to close friends and family for being there her always: Jessie and Jerry Littlejohn, David and Lisa Jewell, step daughter Donna Shaw, Bev (Jim, deceased) Raptoulis, and cousin "sister" Pam (Steve) Derwent. Also surviving are numerous cousins, aunts, and friends who will always be remembered and loved.

Preceding her in death besides her parents were her sister, Janice Y. Watson, her former husband, Larry E. Smith; Leonard McCauley and two infants.

Friends may call at the Brucker-Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st Street, in Newark, on Friday, March 17, 2017, from Noon until 1pm. Funeral services will be held at 1pm, at the funeral home, with Pastor Kathy Littlejohn officiating. Burial will follow in Newark Memorial Gardens.
